Admissions Procedures

Portsmouth Christian School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, athletics, or any other school administered programs.

The procedure for those wishing to enroll their children in Portsmouth Christian Schools is as follows:

Step #1:
Attend an Open House on one of the designated dates listed on our Open House Page. Open House enables the parents to visit class(es) of the grade level(s) in which they are interested, observe teacher interaction with the students and take a tour of our campus. Our Administrator and Middle/High School Principal, Mrs. Nancy Stafford, along with our Elementary Principal, Mrs. Jan Collins will also be available to answer any questions after the tour.

Step #2:
Submit the following to the Admissions/Financial Office:

  1. Student Application/Questionnaire and Statement of Faith (all blue forms)
  2. Application Fee of $125.00 (with application)
  3. Medical /Immunization Record /*Virginia State Physical Form (PDF File)
  4. Birth Certificate with State File Number on document (copy is fine)
  5. Christian Character Reference Form
  6. Copy of last report card (if applicable)
  7. Copy of most recent transcript (grades 10 - 12)
  8. Testimonial Sheet filled out by parent
  9. Testimonial Sheet filled out by students in 6th - 12th grades

*K4/K5 must have the Virginia State Physical Form before entering ~ Please turn in up-to-date immunizations for now, make appointment after child's birth date for the completion of this State required form which we have available in our office. Thanks!

Step #3
Once ALL required documents are received we will call you for an interview in order of priority that required paper work was received. Please understand all required forms must accompany the application. Also, 6th - 12th grade students must accompany parents to the interview.

Step #4
1st - 5th Grade Students: When application and required documents are submitted, and parents have been interviewed, students in grades 1st - 5th must also sign up for an Entrance Test date. Please call (757) 393-0725 (ext. 111) to sign up for one of the following test dates; this test is required before students will be accepted to Portsmouth Christian.

Step #5 The first payment is due by July 1st and is non-refundable. Parents will receive monthly statements. However, July's statement is mailed out the first week in July due to the input of data with all the new accounts and our end of year closing in June. Thank you for your patience. Feel free to mail in your payment and your first statement will be credited. Please also note that bus and extended care fees will not be billed until September.

Re-Enrollment: PCS conducts re-enrollment for current students during the month of February.
